The Video Games Society
I was invited to my University in Bradford in order to give a talk about my career to current computing students. It's been 5 years since I graduated so this was a very bizarre and nostalgic experience.
Myself a close of friend of mine, who also studied there with me in 2010 - 2013, arrived at the University on Thursday evening. We decided to meet up with a few people who studied with us for a very last-minute mini reunion.
Thursday nights are also the same evening in which the Video Game Society meet so it was perfect as we were the ones who set-up the society 5 years ago.

We had a lot of fun hanging out with the new VGS lot and reminiscing / catching up with everything that had changed over the years.
Student Talk
The next day we had a last minute practise before heading to the University to give our talks. Mine was about how to get your foot in the door in the games industry and to share my experiences and careers path since graduating.

Here is a link to the Google Slides so you can refer back to them if needed.
It was really cool to talk to our old lecturers and to see such a diverse group of students that were in the room. I was really happy that I got to share my experiences and lessons learnt, I'm not sure how the students felt about it and I was super nervous - but it was a really great experience for me and I also gained a lot from doing it.
I hope to do much more talks like this in the future in order to help people who are wanting to get into the video games industry. I'm aiming to do a lot more blog posts covering topics and areas in QA and games that hopefully some of you may find helpful or interesting.
Feel free to contact me any time with questions or requests for subjects to cover.
Thanks!
Sarah
