This year I went to the Yorkshire Games Festival, at the Science + Media Museum in Bradford, to give a talk in Getting into Games as a part of the Bafta Careers bar.

The Slides can be found HERE

It was a real honour to a part of this event in my home town :) I used to attend the event as a student when it was known as Bradford Animation Festival so it was really cool to go back and try and help give advice in getting a job in the games industry.

For the rest of the event, I got to meet and talk to a bunch of developers...

Me with developers; Rami Ismail, Richard England, Nareice Wint

...and check out all of the awesome Indie Games at the games exhibition.

Indie Games of note and their links;

  • Party Llama Games - Pandora, WEBSITE, TWITTER

  • 3rd person, beautiful kingdom hearts style adventure game

  • Thomas Robson - They Came from the Sea, TWITTER, DOWNLOAD (free)

  • Endless wave 2D shooter, the developer is 17, waaaaat D:

  • Sticky Cats, TWITTER

  • Crazy co-operative cat fishing game with an amazing controller design

  • Probationary, TWITTER

  • Boardgame developed with the lived experience of being on probation

  • Hidden Folks, WEBSITE, TWITTER

  • This was so cool, a projecter with the game was on one side of the exhibition - on the other a binocular and mouse :D

I recommend trying to go next time if you can, it's such a great atmosphere and very inspirational!
